Three:
Caption: "Reggie working at pig farm, Elizabeth at Sunshine Desserts. Reggie suspects Elizabeth of affair with CJ." |
|
Scene 1: Reggie has followed Elizabeth to Sunshine Desserts, and thinks she must be having an affair with C.J. He bursts into C.J.'s office, but C.J. tells him that, if she is having an affair with anybody, it is with Tony Webster, her superior. Reggie sets off to confront him. |
.. |
Scene 2: Outside, Reggie pushes Tony over a hedge, and they have a scrap. A policeman walks into sight, then walks off again. Both men end up with two black eyes. |
|
Scene 3: Reggie returns home and tells Elizabeth the truth about how he got his two black eyes. Elizabeth understands, and she tells him that she thought he was having an affair with Joan while she was away visiting her mother. Reggie ends up telling her the truth, and Elizabeth leans over to hit him, but he advises her against it, as he already has two black eyes. |
|
Scene 4: At the piggery next day, Mr. Pelham has found out Reggie's history and sacks Reggie for lying to him. Mr. Pelham is, however, sorry to see him go, as he claims that ailing porkers became healthy at Reggie's touch. He tells Reggie he doesn't like being deceived and says goodbye to him for the last time. |
|
Scene 5: Meanwhile, at Sunshine Desserts, Elizabeth, Tony and David are in C.J.'s office. It has come to his attention that Elizabeth has typed, signed and sent a rude letter regarding the sogginess of the company's sponges. Elizabeth says she was only telling the truth, but C.J. is forced to sack her. |
... |
Scene 6: Back at home, Elizabeth returns to tell her that she has been sacked, but Reggie tells her first that he has been sacked. They come to the conclusion that they must find something they can do together, then sends Reggie out to buy the evening papers. She rings Linda to invite them round for an evening drink, and to tell her daughter not to be surprised by anything Elizabeth says. |
|
Scene 7: Linda and Tom arrive. To make Reggie realise how rude he always used to be to Tom, she is rude herself, making nasty comments about his wine and his straggly moustache. Tom has heard enough and walks out. Elizabeth explains her motives to Reggie, to drill into him that life is serious and that he should behave normally from now on. Elizabeth has had an idea about opening a shop, but has no idea what they could sell. Jimmy calls round to see Reggie, but tells Elizabeth that he needs some food again, and she goes off to the kitchen. Jimmy invites Reggie to his bedsit on Thursday week to join a project he is developing. |
... |
Scene 8: Reggie visits Jimmy
in his tiny bedsit. He fetches a large wooden cask from beneath his bed.
It contains rifles, ready to fight for Britain against forces
of anarchy. Jimmy is setting up an underground private army and tells
Reggie exactly who they will be fighting against. Reggie is astonished.
He thinks of it all as rubbish. This gives him an idea.

Scene 9: Reggie rushes home to tell Elizabeth about his idea for the shop. He has decided to call it Grot, and sees it as a chance to be honest about all the rubbish that is sold under false pretences in the High Street. Elizabeth is less convinced, but Reggie has made up his mind. |
|
Link: Reggie is in Climthorpe High St., painting the Grot logo onto the window of his first Grot shop. |
